The first mass test drive of the next generation Ford Focus will take place in Madrid, Spain, in between February 18 and 20, 2011. Ford made the announcement today, marking the entrance of the Focus in a Fiesta-like frantic launch.
The event itself, the first of this magnitude when it comes to the new Focus, will be called Focus Global Test Drive and is open to just about anyone who submits an entry on the carmaker's dedicated Facebook page.
To get approved, Ford says the participants must submit simple video applications explaining why they should be included in the test drive. Using criteria like “creative content, social networking vibrancy and volume of votes received,“ you may or may not get selected.
If you do get in, it might just be worth the effort. Ford has partnered with Spain's National Institute for Aerospace Technology (INTA) to provide no less then 10 surface areas for the Focus to be tested on, so you'll get the whole picture of what the car can do in only one go.
Of course, more surprises are planned on location. More details about the mass test drive can be found on the aforementioned Facebook page.
“Based on what we have learned with the Fiesta Movement and other social media launch efforts, we chose this unique location to give consumers and bloggers a very special experience,” said Jim Farley, group vice president of Global Marketing, Sales & Service.
“Our guests get a unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience behind the wheel of the all-new Focus, within a world-class proving ground facility.”
