We've seen it live at the 2010 Paris Auto Show during the press days, but here is the first time we have the chance to enjoy the new Ford Focus ST in motion. Sort of... Because Ford of Europe thought that it would be better to roll off a promotional video of the 2012 Focus ST without engine sound, but rather with some kind of electronic music in the background.
There's not much to talk about the video and details regarding the car are pretty much the same. Nothing has changed, so the power is provided by the same four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine that comes with a new air intake and an ECU remap, which allow it to offer 250 hp and a maximum torque of 360 Nm (250 lb-ft).
The production ST, which will be launched in 2011, will become the first product in Ford's performance division's history that will be marketed as a global model. With this goal in mind, Team RS, headquartered in Europe, joined forces with SVT from the United States to form what bears the name of Global Performance Vehicles.
“For European drivers, the Focus ST will bring the same distinctive qualities of pure dynamics and performance that have created the unique appeal of our ST heritage,” said Jost Capito, Director of Global Performance Vehicles
"For enthusiasts in North America and Asia who have asked why our compact performance models were not available to them - the wait is almost over! The new Focus ST will offer exactly the same exciting driving experience wherever it's on sale," the executive added.
