2012 Ford Focus ST Is a Collaboration of Team RS and SVT

When comparing the fifth generation Golf GTI to the Ford Focus ST, the differences weren’t that noticeable. Yes, the dolphin had more power, but that came with the added weight of a bigger engine and worse fuel consumption.
The new generation of Focus hatch has hit the global market this summer, and it looks like the ST version will be something to behold. When we heard that it will be engineered for all roads and markets, we thought it would end up as a soft pudding of a car. However, the latest video released shows Jost Capito, Director of Global Performance Vehicles and Motorsport Business Development, saying something amazing about the hothatch.

Apparently, input came not only from the usual Team RS that’s been working on previous generations, but also from North American SVT.

“You know, the expertise from the Shelby GT500, from the Raptor, all that stuff, all these engineers, these great engineers come in here as well and combine with the engineers who have done the former Focus ST and Focus RS, and that coming together, I'm so proud of what the outcome is already,”
Capito says. "And driving the first prototype, I can tell you we will get there spot on with the Focus ST for all markets. I guarantee you that it will be a car worth while waiting for."
