BMW had the designers involved with the creation of he brand new 3-Series. Both Karim Habib, head of BMW exterior design, and Christopher Weil, 3 Series designer, explain in layman’s terms the thought process that went into the new 3er, and what the lines stand for.
The F30 is a strong evolution of the previous generation sedan, with the grille being much more masculine and sporty. You certainly can’t call this a drab executive cruiser. The fluctuation between concave and convex surfaces play with the light and make for unique look in the business.
The front end still has a bit of heritage, but it’s miles away from say an E46. The boldest feature is the connection between the lights and the grille, which in our eyes makes it look more complicated and advanced.
