2012 BMW 6-Series Coupe Online Configurator Launched in the US

With the strange design of the old generation gone, and more powerful and efficient engines being introduced, the new BMW 6-Series is sure to be a hit across the world. The Coupe version will arrive in the US on October 1st, but the Bavarian carmaker has launched an online configurator where you can play with some of the options available.

We say the configurator is for the 6-Series Coupe, but it's actually just for the 650i right now, as this is the only model that can be customized at the moment. The V8-powered 6er can be yours for $83,000 in the US, not including the $875 destination and handling charge. That’s only the base price, but if you tick all the boxes and go for more expensive paintjobs, you can expect to pay a bit over $100,000.

For the money, you get a 4.4-liter V8 petrol engine that makes use of BMW’s TwinPower Turbo technology with two turbochargers and high-precision direct injection. The unit is good for 407 horsepower and can push the 650i to 62 mph in 4.9 seconds and on to an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.

BMW will also throw in 4 Years/50,000 Miles Warranty, Maintenance Program, Roadside Assistance and BMW Assist Safety Plan. Options include the carmaker’s Driver Assistance Package for $3,700, which offers up a head-up display, active blind spot detection, side and top view camera and lane departure warning.

The coupe comes as standard with 19-inch wheels, but 20-inch Double-spoke Wheels (Style 373M) with performance tires can be fitted for $1,300 extra. Full LED lights are also optional, as is a Bang & Olufsen Sound System ($3,700) that brings 16 speakers and 1,200 watts of power.
