As spring is getting ready to engulf most of the planet, the Germans from BMW thought it would be best for them (and us all) to release a new version of one of their icons. Coming in the shape of the 6 Series, the newest addition to the BMW lineup promises to bring “another intoxicating chapter to its decades-long tradition in the production of exclusive dream cars.”
The model will be offered with two engine variants, an eight cylinder good for 407 hp (fitted into the 650i Coupe) and a straight six cylinder capable of developing 320 hp (in the 640i Coupe). Both figures represent an increase of 40 and 46 horsepower, respectively, compared to the previous versions of the model.
As a result, the performance and fuel consumption figures are even more impressive. The most powerful model accelerates from naught to sixty in 4.9 seconds and can reach a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph), while burning through 10.4l/100 km (27.2 mpg).
Both units come married, as standard, with the eight-speed Sports automatic gearbox and several EfficientDynamics technologies aimed at reducing the strain of the owner's pockets at the gas station, like the Auto Start-Stop function, ECO PRO, Electric Power Steering, Drive Dynamic Control or Dynamic Damper Control.
Being a BMW, the new 6 Series coupe had to make a difference in its segment somehow. As a first in its class, the model comes equipped with Adaptive LED Headlights for low and high beam with cornering function, as well as foglamps and rear lights with LED technology.
The ConnectedDrive set of features is insured with the help of the latest-generation BMW Head-Up Display with high-definition, full-color-spectrum graphics, rear-view camera, Surround View, Speed Limit Info, BMW Night Vision and Parking Assistant.
More details regarding the launch date of the model and the prices will come shortly.
