The year 2008 was the worst year for car sales since 1982, with sales steadily rising through 2010 and 2011 to 12.8 million vehicles sold. With a 10.3% increase in sales during the first four months of the year, 2012 is expected to be the best year for the auto industry since 2007.
In an effort to keep up with growing demand, Chrysler and Ford have reduced or done away-with the summer break period they have every year, when production is stopped. If we are to believe the optimistic forecast for the remainder of the year, sales may reach 14.3 million cars and light trucks, according to analysts who claim that the US economy is stabilizing and improving.

This is one of the first positive pieces of information we’ve heard in a while now, so it’s good news. It’s such good news, that GM, Toyota and Ford have readjusted their sales expectations for the year, by adding around 10% to their original forecasts.
