Have you ever looked at that big piece of glass dangling over your head that you call a sunroof and said to yourself “Boy I hope that doesn’t break. But it’s built by the Germans, they know what they are doing.”
Well not necessarily, as the sunroof on the 13,172 Audi Q5 crossovers built between June 21, 2011 and December 9, 2011 could shatter extremely cold temperatures.
Audi says it was able to replicate the problem under lab conditions at temperatures under -40 degrees Celsius. in the real world, there have been no injuries reported yet, but this flaw could prove fatal if the driver is blinded while driving.
An official recall will start on August 7th, and the front glass will be replaced by dealerships at no cost. If you want to know if your car is affected, call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle safety hotline at (888) 327-4236.
