Audi recently released its new contender for the mid-size luxury saloon segment, the 2012 A6. The vehicle has even received a rendering for its future (unconfirmed) RS version meanwhile, but we are not hear to talk about that. Instead, we are offering you a video that shows the vehicle in action.
Even tough the new A6 is shorter, the vehicle manages to offer a more generous interior space, thanks to its longer wheelbase. And the story of the interior gets better, as the passengers are treated with a long list of top features that includes items like automatic climate control, MMI, a 6.5 inch monitor. The optional extras list includes goodies such as a Band & Olufsen sound system and individual rear seats.
The vehicle’s engine range includes three oil burners and two petrol units. The entry level engine is a 2.8 FSI V6 delivering 204 hp and 207 lb-ft (280 Nm) of torque. This is followed by by a turbocharged 3.0 TFSI V6 unit that has an output of 300 hp and 325 lb-ft (440 Nm).
The smallest diesel engine has a displacement of 2 liters and develops 177 hp & 280 lb-ft (380 Nm) of torque. The carmaker also offers a 3.0 liter TDI unit that comes with 204 hp and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. Customers can also choose a beefier version of the engine, which develops 245 hp and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm).
The company offers three transmission choices: a six-speed manual, a multitronic CVT and a seven-speed, dual-clutch S tronic.
The new Audi A6 is scheduled to enter the market next year, with a German market starting price of EUR38,500 ($50,650).
