It’s not just Mercedes who had a DMT car debuting in Frankfurt this year, as Audi has also taken the wraps off the new competitor for 2012. We’re talking about a car that’s based on the recently unveiled facelifted version of the A5. This will replace the aging A4 DTM competitor, bringing a number of innovations.
The 2012 Audi A5 DTM makes use of a racing V8 capable of pushing out 455 horsepower. That chassis is a carbon fiber monocoque, while the roll cage is made of high-strength steel.

The body different massively from the road-going A5, having been fitted with a massive wing, huge splitter at the front and other bits and pieces to produce downforce.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
