2012 (991) Porsche 911 Speedster Rendering

Last year, Porsche announced a new 911 Speedster design, which was very... blue and very exclusive. only 356 were to be made, all based on the 997 chassis that has now been replaced by the 991. If you’re not a Porsche fan, that might be confusing, especially since their designers have never been know for reinventing anything. Basically, the new model is wider and longer, but also lighter and more powerful.

Getting back to the Speedster from last year, it was the third such car ever made, the two previous designs being based on the 930 and 964 chassis. Now graphic renderer Theophilus Chin ask the question “what if they make a fourth?” and hooks us up with a set of images, based on last year’s models. He has obviously added the lights, bumpers and mirrors of 991 to last year’s Pure Blue number.

Still, the Speedster is based on the GTS, so we have a long while before we find out if there’s going to be another one.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
