2011 Volkswagen Eos Now Takes Orders in the UK

After its successful North American debut at the 2010 Los Angeles auto show, the newly redesigned 2011 Volkswagen Eos coupe-cabrio is now available for ordering in the UK. The model is expected to arrive in showrooms in early 2011.

The new-look Eos follows the design pattern Volkswagen had given to all its vehicles, which is marked by clearly structured, horizontal lines. Changes include a new bumpers, grille, headlights and taillights, hood and front fenders. The main headlights can be ordered in halogen (H7) or optional bi-xenon format. Within the housings of the bi-xenon headlamps, 14 LEDs form the daytime running light. A new optional extra for both types of headlight is the Light Assist main beam assistant. Apart from the fresh new exterior, the Eos comes with its signature five piece metal folding hard top that has an integrated glass sunroof and a never-ending list of high-tech gadgetry.

Volkswagen offers the 2011 Eos with a choice of three powerplants, two TSI petrol units with power outputs ranging from 122 hp to 210 hp, and a TDI common rail diesel unit developing 140 hp. Each of the engines is mated with a six-speed manual transmission as standard, but customers can also request an optional six-speed DSG gearbox. The use of BlueMotion Technology (including Stop/Start system and brake energy recovery) has reduced fuel consumption by 0.7 l/100 km.

Pricing begins at GBP 22,895 (about US $36,000) for the SE 1.4-litre TSI BlueMotion Technology version with a manual gearbox, and rises up to GBP 30,320 (US $47,700) for the Exclusive 2.0-litre TDI BlueMotion Technology version with a six-speed DSG gearbox.
