Vauxhall’s annual art car fair will kick of this year on Sunday, June 19th, just off Brick Lane, returning for its most anticipated and creative event yet. The event, which is now in its eighth year, has made a name among London’s art lovers.
The Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair makes art accessible to the general public in an unique and entertaining way, providing a rare opportunity for people to meet high profile artists as they sell their work at bargain prices from Vauxhall car boots.
This year Vauxhall boots will host more artists than ever before, including Marcus Harvey, Gavin Turk, Sir Peter Blake, Bob and Roberta Smith, Oliver Guy Watkins, Pete Fowler, Jessica Albarn, Guts for Garters and style icon Pam Hogg.
Various Vauxhall vehicles have been commissioned by Catlin Art Prize curator Justin Hammond, established art magazine,Turps Banana, Penguin Classics and Julia Royse, independent curator and director of POSTED who has collaborated with emerging artist duo ‘The Girls’ to transform a Vauxhall postal van.
Looking at art is not the only thing you will get to do, as the event promises to provide delicious food and drink courtesy of Ox-heart buns, St John’s Bread and Wine and the Southampton Arms, along with entertainment from The Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club and lots of art that you can get stuck into and do yourself.
Additionally, Turps Banana, Marcus Harvey’s innovative and highly collectible painting magazine, will be presenting a unique print portfolio at an incredible bargain price with works by leading artists such as Chantal Joffe, Ryan Mosely and Marcus Harvey himself.
