2011 TTXGP Rule Book Goes Wiki

In an open invitation on the TTXGP website, the organization's founder Azhar Hussain asked racing fans to help create the needed rulebook for the competition. Though Hussain thanks Jim Parker of the ACU, Royce Creasey and the IET/TTXGP Technical Panel for the help they gave in setting the 2009 rules, he is convinced that the current committee based system is destined to fail TTXGP for the longer term.

"It was an incredible 2009 for TTXGP and as we launch into the next phase of the journey, I have had a chance to reflect on some of the challenges we faced,"
Hussain writes, "A memorable part has been the formulation of the rules for TTXGP. Having negotiated with the governing authorities and experienced what passes for enlightened benevolence, I have been wondering if there might be a better way."

Just as with the technology, organizers appear to be looking to the community for the framework of what many consider the next generation of motorcycle racing.

"The way rules are done today is a product of by-gone era, and would not exist if we were to start now. Today, technology, globalization, communications and the pace of change would never allow it,"
Hussain continues, "Actually, a bit like the combustion engine really."

The 2010 rules will be uploaded here where they’ll be freely editable. The amendments will be filtered for practicality, cost, commercials, safety and verification. A specially-appointed lawyer will monitor the wiki for six months, occupying the role of ‘super editor’. Technical experts will be appointed as sub-editors in due course, to make sure the rules work.

The finished set of regulations for 2011 will be established and published in October, and the process will repeat in the following year.

"If all goes well, then the steps we take today will become the foundation of TTXGP eGrandPrix for the future. Your contributions could become part of what drives not just the sport, but the world," Hussain says.
