The latest model to join the Daytona family and compete for Triumph against the best in the supersport class, is the 2011 Daytona 675R machine. Designed for both road and track use, the new model keeps the engine of the standard 675, while getting improved suspension, brakes and bodywork.

Specifically, the British engineers collaborated with Swedish suspension specialists Ohlins to offer riders a trackday tool. The middleweight supersport machine therefore uses 43mm NIX30 forks, usually only found on the racetrack or ultra-exotic Italian machines, and a MotoGP developed TTX36 rear suspension unit.

However, Italian specialist Brembo also played an important part, adding radially-mounted monoblock calipers and radial master cylinder, which were reportedly specified to ensure the Daytona 675R also has class-leading stopping power.

Further track-spec items fitted as standard on the Daytona 675R include a standard-fit quickshifter and a host of carbon fibre bodywork, including hugger, silencer heat shield and front mudguard. The Daytona 675R also uses the Daytona 675’s comprehensive instrumentation, which includes a lap timer and programmable gear change lights.

As we said, the Daytona 675R is identical to the standard Daytona 675 from the mechanical point of view, which means it delivers 125 hp at 12,600rpm and 72Nm (53 lb.ft.) of torque.

Visually, the iconic gold Ohlins suspension units join the sporty new graphics that include a unique Triumph tank script and a special color scheme. The Crystal White bodywork is contrasted with a race style black belly pan and distinctive red subframe.

In addition to that, a range of official Triumph accessories are available for the Daytona 675R, including an Arrow slip on silencer, race style CNC machined levers and single seat cowl.
