2011 Toyota Sienna, World Debut in LA

Japanese carmaker Toyota announced today the unveiling of the 2011 Sienna minivan at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show, on December 2. Of course, no other details regarding the people carrier have been released but, as usual, the rumor mill started spinning.

According to Autoblog, the new Sienna will switch platforms and begin using the MC one, on which the Camry, Highlander, RAV4, Venza and Prius are based on. Of course, this is all speculation at this point.

The last version of the Sienna was released back in May, when the 2010 model received minor tweaks and virtually no price changes. Today, the Sienna is being offered in four trim levels, CE, LE, XLE and Limited, all front-wheel drive (4WD available for LE, XLE and Limited as an option).

With prices ranging from $24,540 for the CE grade in 7-seat and FWD configuration to $37,865 for the Limited 7-seat version, the Sienna come equipped with a single, 3.5l V6 engine.

The unit develops 266 horsepower (200 kW) at 6,200 rpm and 248 lb-ft of torque at 4,700 rpm. It is paired with a 5-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission and has a 23 mpg fuel consumption rating highway and 17 mpg city.

It is unclear at this point what the changes for the 3rd generation Sienna will be, or whether the aforementioned trims, engines and specs will be passed over to the new Sienna. until then, we have only this to go on:

"Toyota will stage the world premiere of the all-new 2011 Sienna minivan at a press conference at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show," Toyota said in a release.
