Subaru is not contempt to just bring the BRZ sportscar to the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show, as the automaker has just released the first set of images showing a wagon that will blend “Enjoyment and Peace of Mind”.
Called the Advanced Tourer Concept, it actually follows from where the 2009 Hybrid Tourer Concept left off, and it’s said to be coming to a showroom near you in production form starting 2013.
The concept is powered by a boxer engine displacing just 1.6-liters and matched to Subaru’s Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) technology. The old concept had a bigger 2.0-liter and electric motors at the back, but the system has been simplified in order to ensure a smaller overall weight.
The concept will also bring the latest EyeSight driver assist system that alerts the occupants of objects they can’t actually see. This is a second generation device, and Subaru say recognition range of the stereo camera has expanded considerably, both in width and depth.
