The first Silverado HD to leave the assembly lines is a red, regular cab Silverado HD. Its destination is Strawberry Point.
“We’re in a rural community out here. Ninety percent of buyers are pulling a trailer of some kind,” Dan Paris, co-owner and general manager of Rodas Chevrolet, the dealership which will receive the first pick-up said in a statement.
“We have guys that are definitely watching this one coming. I don’t think it’s going to take very long” to sell the first truck. We kind of had some buyers in mind when we ordered them. "
The 2011 Silverado HD is powered by a strengthened 6.0L Vortec 6L90 standard power unit and comes equipped with independent and new asymmetrical leaf-spring rear suspensions, exclusive exhaust brake system, larger brakes, improved handling and steering, 170-degree-opening rear access doors on extended cab models and state-of-the art connectivity.
The engine delivers 97 hp (296 kW) at 3,000 rpm and 765 lb.-ft. of torque (1,037 Nm) at 1,600 rpm. Even if this is 32 hp (24 kW) and 105 lb.-ft. of torque (142 Nm) more than in the previous engine, it delivers up to 11 percent greater highway fuel economy compared to the previous version.
