Although Renault is currently involved in one of the most important electric vehicle efforts of the auto industry - we're talking about the Zero-Emission mobility programme - this doesn't necessarily mean that the French manufacturer is ignoring the other vehicle categories. And the living proof is the new Renault Master, the popular van that will go on sale in April 2010.

The new Renault Master will be offered with several engines, including a new 2.3-liter dCi unit that is fitted transversely in the case of front-wheel drive versions and longitudinally in rear-wheel drive versions.

Among the key features of the van, we can mention a sunglasses holder, an A4 file shelf, an MP3 player holder close to a second 12V socket and audio connectivity, four can holders and a removable ashtray, a 7.6-liter chilled glovebox, a mobile phone holder with a 12V socket for charging and other trays that could accommodate keys, gloves, cigarette packets or umbrellas.

Other highlights include keyless locking, fixed cornering lights, automatic climate control, extensive audio range with CD player and Bluetooth support, Carminat TomTom navigation, heated seats (optional) and reversing camera.

In terms of safety, the Master includes seatbelts with pretensioners and load limiters, plus frontal and side-impact airbags for driver and passenger, ABS and ESC.

"New Renault Master aims to become the segment's benchmark for comfort thanks to a complete reappraisal of the driving position and controls, enhanced visibility and the availability of a raft of comfort-enhancing features normally associated with passenger cars," Renault said in a press release.
