Following yesterday’s photo leakage, today we bring to you initial details and photos of the new Peugeot 508, officially unveiled by the French manufacturer. According to Peugeot, the new 508 comes with a design based on the styling cues of the SR1 concept car revealed back in January.

“The stylish exterior design is elegant and timeless and full of ‘French chic’, equally at home in Paris or London,”
a company statement reads.

Powering the new model are a range of engines aimed at performance and driveability, as well as fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The engines will benefit from Peugeot’s new e-HDi stop and start system that offers an economy increase of up to 15 percent.

Peugeot’s HYbrid4 technology will also be available on the 508, providing 200 bhp to the car’s all-wheel drive system, while CO2 emissions level will be of just 99 g/km or zero in electric mode.

As you can see from the pictures, the Peugeot 508 will come in two body styles, namely a saloon and an SW.

“The interior of the car combines hi-tech with the use of high quality materials and every detail has been chosen to offer indisputable perceived quality, both visually and to the touch. An exceptional interior space, a very generous boot, and a level of standard specification provide interior comfort and convenience of a very high level,”
stated the press release.

The new 508 will be manufactured in Rennes (France) for the European market and from 2011 in China, for the Chinese market. Both models are scheduled for public debut at the upcoming Paris Motor Show this October, with sales to start early next year.
