2011 Opel Corsa Gets Better for the New Year

Two months into 2010, German carmaker Opel released the tweaked version of the Corsa, the car which accounts for some 30 percent of the European Opel/Vauxhall sales.

The tweaks made for the new model year include both performance and visual nip'n'tucks. Still, none of the upgrades will be as exciting as those to be featured on the 111 Limited Edition announced for later this year, in celebration of 111 years of automotive history.

The Corsa will receive, for both body-styles (coupe-like three-door and the five-door) several other special editions in Germany, including the Color Line series (Color Race, Color Edition and Color Wave with distinctive bodywork finishes and attractive 17-inch alloy wheels).

Under the hood, the car will hide a wide choice of powerplants, ranging from the 1l 3 cylinder unit (65 hp) all the way to the top-of-the-line 1.7 CDTI diesel (130 hp/300 Nm). The fuel consumption rating for the Corsa average under 5l/100 km for all diesel versions, while the gasoline ones average in between 5 and 5.5l/100 km.

Other enhancements in the revised Corsa include optimized dampers, springs, anti-roll bars, rear axle, electric steering gear and its calibration software.

As Opel says, all changes apply to Essentia, Enjoy and Cosmo variants, while the Sport chassis, GSi and ecoFLEX feature tweaks only to the rear axle and steering. For the OPC, the changes only apply to the steering gear.
