Tesla brought its  2011 Roadster 2.5 model to the Detroit showfloor. The car features freshened styling and equipment changes to make it easier to live with for electric car enthusiasts. Also on display at the Tesla Motors boots is a special editing of the Sport, featuring custom paint and a carbon fiber roof.

For the 2.5 incarnation of the model, Tesla chose to redesign the front fascia, adding revised grille opening, aerodynamic winglets, and extra vents ahead of the front wheels, as well as a restyled rear diffuser. As an optional extra, new seven-spoke forged wheels are available in black or silver for a price of $2900. The mechanics for the 2011 model remain unchanged, except for the revision to the power-control hardware, which will improve enhanced hot-weather performance.

The inside of the car has also receive changes, mainly to the retouched trim. New seats, which the company claims are more comfortable, have been fitted and come with bigger bolsters and more lumbar support. A new Electronics Bundle is offered for $4,500 and offers a seven-inch touch-screen navigation system with back-up camera. Along with the improved sound-proofing, the aforementioned upgrades should make the Roadster easier to live with on a daily basis.

"Although development of the Model S is our main focus, this shows that we still care a great deal about improving the Tesla Roadster. These improvements are a direct result of customer feedback and come only a year after release of Roadster 2.0, showing an exceptionally rapid pace of innovation. Where feasible, we will also offer existing customers the ability to purchase the upgrades now available in version 2.5," said Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
