2011 Le Mans 24 Hours Entry List Announced

Only 4 months before the official start of the 79th Le Mans 24 Hour race, the ACO (Automobile Club de l'Ouest) has revealed the official entry list for the June event. In all, there will be 56 cars that will lap the French circuit throughout the event, split into the 4 categories.

The most important of all is the LMP1, of course, where the major efforts in terms of entries are still those of German carmaker Audi and their rivals Peugeot. Each has already confirmed by now their official lineups for the 2011 event, so it's no news that they'll enter 3 cars apiece in their quest for victory.

In addition, Aston Martin will make the grid with 2 AMR-One cars, Rebellion Racing will also bring two Lola-Toyotas, ORECA will have one old-spec Peugeot 908, Oak Racing will have two Pescarolos, while Highcroft will come with one HPD ARX-01e. The 17-entry LMP1 list is completed by a factory Pescarolo, Hope Racing's ORECA and the ASM Zytek.

The LMP2 pack is comprised of 11 cars as followed: Strakka Racing and RML will both enter HPDs, ORECA, Signature (two Nissan-engined 03 challengers), Race Performance (Judd), Oak Racing (Pescarolo), Level 5 Motorsports and Pecom Racing (both Lolas) and Greaves Motorsport (Zytek Nissan).

The GTE Pro class of the GT category will feature drives from AF Corse and Luxury Racing (both coming with Ferrari cars), and Farnbacher and JMW (one Ferrari each). The list is completed by Prospeed, IMSA, Felbermayr (two Porsches each) and Flying Lizard (one Porsche). BMW and Corvette will field two factory cars each, while JetAlliance will bring two Lotus Evoras and JOTA will field an Aston Martin.

Finally, the GTE Am class of the GT category features cars from Flying Lizard, Proton and Larbre (one Porsche each), Krohn Racing, AF Corse, JMB (Ferrari) and Robertson Racing (Ford GT).
