As we told you no more than two weeks ago, Japanese manufacturer Infiniti used the so-called virtual video mapping technology to present the new M. Loosely translated, the car was not there "in the flesh," but only as a 3D virtual rendering. And we must say, after watching this video, we are quite impressed.
To achieve these dynamic results, Infiniti partnered with RTT USA and Klip Collective and together made the car come to life... from scrap. Video projectors covered four 15-foot (4.5 meters) walls, while sound was provided via a 5.1 sound system.
The rendering was projected on a 3D foam model using topographical site-specific video projection imaging to create an "immersive experience that mimics the vehicle’s physical presence." The result? It was like watching the car being built right before our eyes.
Before you enjoy the video, let's not forget the reason why this type of presentation was set up: the M. The car will be offered in two different engine configurations, V8 and V6, which will be designated Infiniti M56 and Infiniti M37. For Europe, Infiniti will offer the M56 not with a V8 engine, but with a V6 performance diesel.
For the future, Infiniti plans to add a hybrid to the M line-up. It will rely on lithium-ion batteries, described by Infiniti's engineers as the best solution to ensure a high output and quick recharge times.
