2011 Hyundai Genesis Facelift Revealed in Korea

The Hyundai Genesis sedan is one of the vehicles the carmaker is counting on to strengthen its position on the market. Now that the Korean automotive producer is preparing to unveil the 2011 model year version of the vehicle, we were expecting to see what kind of revisions the two year-old vehicle will receive.

Fortunately, our wait was over sooner than we would’ve expected, as thecarblogger has posted a set of spy shots revealing the Korean market-destined Genesis Sedan facelift.

The pictures show the car with absolutely no camouflage. The vehicle has received a set of discreet exterior changes. At the front of the car, we can see a fresh bumper that comes with new air intakes. The vehicle now offers a bit more aggressive styling, as its front and rear bumpers, as well as side skirts have received a bolder design for the lower sides.

The rear of the car has received a new bumper that houses a new design for the two exhaust pipes, which now come in a trapezoidal shape.

Taking a look inside the vehicle, the only noticeable change seems to be the BMW design-inspired gear shifter knob. This is probably used to control the new eight speed transmission that will be offered on the refreshed Genesis sedan. The gearbox has been developed by Hyundai and will also be produced by the carmaker.

Various sources indicate that the 2011 model year Hyundai Genesis will receive a new direct injection 5.0 liter V8 engine developing 429 hp at 6,500 rpm and 376 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 rpm.

We will have to wait and see if the U.S. Genesis sedan will receive the same modifications.
