2011 Hyundai Elantra Interior Teaser

Although we're quite used to see teasers and other types of renderings supposed to give us a glimpse into how a certain model looks like, Hyundai tried to do something else with its 2011 Elantra. The car was officially unveiled earlier this year, in April, at the Busan Motor Show, but all the units on display had 100 percent tinted windows.

And now, that's not one of their features, but a curios market strategy that's supposed to keep Elantra fans connected. In other words, Hyundai hid the car's interior and chose to roll out teasers, with a full unveiling probably scheduled for the time when the model will go on sale.

We do know however that the cabin offers "advanced features not found on other compacts," as the South Korean automaker said at the show, with equipment including heated rear seats, ambient lighting, and a color TFT LCD information display. And the renderings rolled out today prove us that this is indeed true, but the overall design is much more futuristic than anybody expected.

The new Elantra, which borrows design elements from the new Accent and from the redesigned Sonata, will go on sale in South Korea in 2011 and will be powered by a 1.6-liter Gamma GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) four-cylinder engine, developing 140 horsepower and 133 lb-ft of torque (167 Nm). The unit is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.
