2011 Honda Odyssey Recalled Due to Front Door Glass Issue

The North American division of Honda has announced a new recall involving the latest Odyssey model. After it has issued a safety notice regarding a total of 33,341 vehicles from the model year 2011 that might experience a problem with the front windshield wiper linkage rod, Honda now revealed that 2,800 vehicles from the same model year will be recalled in the U.S. to replace the side window glass in one or both of the front doors.

So far, Honda says there have been no related incidents reported, nor does it have any information about people experiencing problems with their vehicles.

According to the company, one or both windows could become detached from the window regulator, causing the window to become inoperative and preventing it from being rolled up or down. This would cause the window to bind and shatter onto the occupants.

“Honda is taking this step because there is a potential for one or both windows to become detached from the window regulator, causing the window to become inoperative and preventing it from being rolled up or down. In the worst case, the window may bind and shatter onto the occupants. No crashes or injuries have been reported related to this defect,” a company statement reads.

Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by the manufacturer starting mid-April 2011, and told to take their cars to the dealers for a proper inspection and repairs, if needed. All repairs will be conducted free of charge.

“When Honda identifies concerns of this nature, nothing is more important to the company than fulfilling our obligation and responsibility to alert our customers. To this end, in addition to contacting customers by mail, in mid-April, owners of these vehicles will be able to determine if their vehicles require repair by going on-line to www.recalls.honda.com or by calling (800) 999-1009, and selecting option 4,” Honda adds.
