2011 GMC Acadia Denali Production Begins

American manufacturer GM announced yesterday the start of production for the new Acadia Denali, with the first models to arrive in dealerships by the end of this month. The vehicle is being produced at the Lansing Delta Township Assembly Plant, the newest GM facility in North America.

The vehicle will be available in both front-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations and will be propelled by a 3.6l V6 unit that develops 288 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and 366 Nm of torque at 3,400 rpm.

The SUV can seat seven or eight passengers, depending on the configuration, and comes equipped with several unique features. This is the first time GMC is offering the Denali trim line on the Acadia model to set itself apart form the rest of the SUV crowd by wearing Denali chrome honeycomb grille and monochromatic exterior, accompanied by 20-inch two-tone chrome-clad wheels, high-intensity discharge headlamps, chrome interior accents, head-up display and heated and cooled driver and passenger seats.

We have received a lot of positive interest from our customers and dealers to develop an Acadia Denali since the launch of the Acadia in 2007,” Lisa Hutchinson, GMC product marketing director, explained the carmaker's decision to offer such a model.

“The new Acadia Denali offers convenience for consumer looking for premium features in one package, and delivers the luxury and exclusivity that our customers demand in a Denali model,” the GM executive added.

When the SUV will arrive in dealerships next week, it will come with a price tag of $43,220 (starting price, excluding destination charges).
