2011 Ford Edge Gets EPA Rating

American manufacturer Ford announced today it has received the fuel consumption rating from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for the 2011 Edge model. According to the EPA, the Edge has a fuel consumption figure of 19 mpg city (12.4l/100 km) and 27 mpg (8.7l/100 km) highway for the front-wheel drive version.

“Providing class-leading fuel economy and power are two of many examples of the improved attributes customers will find in the 2011 Edge,” Elaine Bannon, Edge chief engineer said after announcing the figures.

“The new Edge demonstrates how a refresh at Ford is much more than just a few tweaks. It’s reworking all the elements, adding more content and improving the look and feel of the vehicle.”

With this best in class rating, the Edge can now go and conquer the market. The model comes for the 2011 model year with three new powertrains, two new transmissions, a revised exterior design and a completely new interior.

The crossover comes equipped with 12 standard technologies, including MyFord driver connect, SYNC, SecuriCode keyless entry keypad, Blind Spot Mirrors, MyKey, AdvanceTrac with RSC, Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Warning with Brake Support, Cross Traffic Alert and 22-inch wheels.

“With up to a 4 mpg advantage over the competition, Edge will give customers the best of both worlds by delivering an engaging, fun-to-drive experience without sacrificing fuel economy. Edge will deliver all this while continuing to provide customers bold, distinctive styling and revolutionary technology highlighted by the industry-first MyFord Touch system,” added Amy Marentic, Ford group marketing manager.

Pricing for the new Edge has not been announced yet.
