2011 Ferrari Challenge Schedule Released

The Ferrari 458 Italia is a vehicle that has fascinated automotive enthusiasts from around the world. Back in July, Ferrari took the 458’s game to a whole new level, introducing the 458 Challenge, the racing incarnation of the supercar.

Now, Ferrari’s North American division is presenting the schedule of the 2011 Ferrari Challenge, a racing series that will see the aforementioned hero in action.

Next year’s season of the Ferrari Challenge will include multiple top race tracks from North America. Two of the races will have a special status (both of them will be held in Canada), as one of them will be introduced as a support race for the F1 Canadian Grand Prix, while the other will be a support event for the Izod IndyCar Series.

The races will be as follows: April 28th-May 1 at the Infineon Raceway, Sonoma, California; May 20th-22 at the Laguna Seca, Monterey, California; June 10-12 at Montreal, Quebec, Canada (this will be a support race for the Canadian Grand Prix); July 8th-10th at Toronto, Ontario, Canada (the event to take place as a support race for the IndyCar Series); July 29-30 at Lime Rock Park, Lime Rock, Connecticut; Sept 23-25 at Homestead Miami Speedway, Homestead, Florida.

We’ll remind you that the Ferrari 458 Italia Challenge keeps the road-going version’s 570 hp 4.5 liter V8, offering a tweaked F1 gearbox and coming with a a weight-reduction program that includes the use of special materials such as carbon fiber and Lexan. Racing drivers also get a modified suspension (the car rides closer to the track), as well as Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes.
