The newest addition to Derbi’s range for 2011 is a fresh scrambler bike that comes to evoke the Spanish brand’s association with the world of competitive racing. The 2011 Derbi Mulhacen Cafe 659 Angel Nieto LE is therefore paying homage to the company’s racing tradition of its “Red Bullets”, winners of 10 World Championships in the 50cc, 80cc and 125 cc categories.

The new Euro3 version of the Mulhacen Cafe 659 celebrates the contribution of the “12+1 World Champion” Angel Nieto to make the Derbi brand famous in the racing world.

This special edition include a fire red lower section with a black horizontal band extending the entire length of the motorcycle in pure 70s racing style. The new street sports tires, the 17-inch alloy rims, the impressive 320 mm rear brake with Brembo radial caliper and the backlit digital instrument panel, highlight the racing character of the bike.

“The Mulhacen Cafe 659 is the answer to enthusiasts who were crying out for a street version of the Mulhacen,” a company statement reads.

Powering the Mulhacen Cafe 659 is a Yamaha-Minarelli single-cylinder four-valve 659-cc engine, which is accompanied by a steel tube frame with aluminum swingarm and the refined progressive linkage on which the original adjustable lateral mono shock absorber operates.

The ergonomics of the motorcycle have been carefully reworked for the street, and now offer a more comfortable ride for both driver and passenger making it also suitable for long distance riding.

The new 2011 Mulhacen Cafe 659 Angel Nieto LE be available on the European market as a limited edition, priced at EUR6,249 (US$8,333 at the current exchange rate).
