2011 CTS-V Coupe Racecar First Official Images Released

Cadillac first played a bit with our imagination in December, when they released a couple of renderings showing the CTS-V Coupe racer, but now the company is showing the car in its real form with a set of stunning photographs. We love the look of this racing beat and can’t wait to see it in the flesh at the North American International Auto Show on Monday, January 10th. GM also re-confirmed that Johnny O’Connell and Andy Pilgrim are indeed the pilots for the two cars that will enter the Sports Car Club of America World Challenge GT series for the 2011 season. Johnny O'Connell is an experienced driver, having won the GT1 champion in the America Le Mans Series three times, while Andy Pilgrim is the winner of the 2005 SCCA World Challenge GT class. Testing will begin by the end of this month, at Sebring International Raceway, ahead of the racing calendar’s kick off in March 25th to 27th at St. Petersburg, Florida. The race spec Cadillac CTS-V Coupe is believed to be powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8, delivering 556 horsepower. The car is witted with a racing suspension that features a Magnetic Ride Control system. A full set of Brembo brakes will take care of the stopping. Unfortunately, no performance figures have been released by Cadillac. “Returning to racing in the SCCA World Challenge is a great way to demonstrate the performance and capability of the CTS-V Coupe. The race cars in this series are production based, which allows us to validate our performance against the best of our competitors on the track, and not just the showroom,” stated Don Butler, vice president for Cadillac marketing in a recent interview. autoevolution will be attending the 2011 NAIAS, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
