2011 Camaro Convertible Pricing and First Photo

American manufacturer Chevrolet released today the first official photo of the 2011 Camaro Convertible, while also announcing the open top version will premiere at the 2010 L.A International Auto Show on November 17, 2010.

“Camaro is America’s most popular sports car, seizing leadership in U.S. sales with the coupe model that launched in spring of 2009 as a 2010 model,” a company statement reads.

“The Convertible will make the all-new Camaro, already a smash-hit, even more desirable to a greater range of drivers,” stated Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet Marketing.

According to Chevrolet, the Convertible model will be available in the same basic model offering as the Camaro Coupe, with three different trim levels, namely LS, LT and SS.

This means the standard model will be powered by a 312 hp Direct Injection V6 engine featuring a fuel consumption of 29 mpg (8.11 l/100km) on the highway. On the other hand, the SS model will feature the 6.2-liter V8 engine producing 426 hp. A six-speed manual transmission will be standard, with an optional six-speed automatic.

Camaro comes in ten exterior colors Black, Victory Red, Rally Yellow, Silver Ice Metallic, Cyber Gray Metallic, Aqua Blue Metallic, Inferno Orange Metallic, White and Imperial Blue Metallic and Red Jewel Tincoat.

The right to purchase one of the first Convertibles was recently sold at the Barrett-Jackson auction for $205,000, with all proceeds donated to charity.

The 2011 Camaro Convertible model is scheduled to arrive in Chevrolet showrooms in February 2011. Starting price will be $30,000, including $850 destination charges. Further details are expected to surface later this year.
