It took German carmaker BMW only 12 minutes to reserve all the production slots for what it is considered to be "the most dynamic and exclusive M3 ever" in the US, the BMW M3 Frozen Gray Coupe. No wonder here, considering the fact that only 30 units of this special edition will be produced.
Yet, at least one of the ones which bought a unit is apparently not necessarily a BMW fan, but more of a casual business man. According to Jalopnik, one usual user of BMW forums, MannyGomez, posted a topic saying he is the future owner of one 2011 BMW M3 Frozen Gray Coupe and he wants to sell it for $83,000. That, considering manufacturer price for the special edition is $77,600.
“and yes, this is for real. I reserved one yesterday morning... i am one of the 30.. it will be at a dealer here in north jersey. so please spare the virtual-tire kicking,... i have all of the emails and documents ready to prove whoever is ACTUALLY interested, thx,” the so called BMW fan says in his post on Bimmerforums.
“ps. i also posted it on ebay. i changed my mind on selling it for the full price, rather just sell the slot. i my homework and was one of the lucky 30.. i can do whatever i want with the slot. find it on ebay by searching "frozen M3"”
For record, we searched "frozen M3" on eBay and guess what? Search came out empty. And that's only the beginning. According to a BMW dealership, talking to Jalopnik, MannyGomez is not allowed to sell the production slot for his Frozen Gray.
"BMW NA will take 30 reservations and develop a waiting list, requiring the customer to provide name, address, phone number, e-mail address and a preferred BMW center if available."
"The customer and center will have 10 days from the customer reservation date to complete an agreed contract for sale of a car. After 10 days, the customer reservation will expire and assigned to the next available alternate customer."
Bottom line? Even if you buy it from Gomez, you won't get it. The car will nicely pass out to the next in line on the waiting list.
