2011 BMW M1 Info Leaked

With the release of the next generation 1 Series getting closer and closer, we are now able, thanks to 1addicts, to preview the more impressive M1.

According to the source, the visual differences between the M and your regular 1 Series will be made by the use of a trapezoid grille with two lateral intakes at the front, hiding and at the same time cooling the six piston brakes.

From the side, the M1 will set itself apart by the M-designed side vent and side sills specifically designed for it. The bulged hood of the car closes in on the headlights, giving the vehicle a more aggressive look.

At the rear, the M1 will boast open ducts on the rear diffuser and M designed exhaust pipes, while for the roof, the coupe will get a reinforced carbon fiber construction.

The M1 will ride on standard 18 inch 5 spoke wheels (the size will be the minimum offered to go with the M1) or, as an option, on 18 inch Competition wheels

But, of course, is not the looks that matter in an M, but the more technical details it has to offer. M1 will feature a high performance intercooler and a twin-turbo six-cylinder engine developing 350 horsepower and 310 lb.-ft of torque.

The unit is paired to a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox and the power is relayed to the wheels via a electronically-controlled rear M differential.
