2011 BMW K 1600 GT and GTL Canadian Pricing Announced

The first market to get a price tag on the new BMW K 1600 GT and K 1600 GTL six-cylinder touring bikes is Canada, with the US expected to receive the pricing shortly. Getting straight to the point, the K1600GT is priced at CA$24,100 (US$23.730) while the K1600GTL version gets a retail price of CA$27,225 (US$26,810).

However, considering that the American and the Canadian dollar near par, we can get already get an idea on how much will the bikes cost the North American customers. Also, a presale program for the K1600GT and K1600 GTL is offered in the United States until March 2011.

We’ll remind you that both models are powered by the lightest and most compact serial production 6-cylinder in-line engine in a motorcycle above 1000cc, which is capable of developing 160hp at 7750rpm and 130 ft-lb. (176 Nm) at 5250rpm. The bikes tip the scales at 319 kg/703 lbs (K 1600 GT without panniers) and 348 kg/767 lbs (K 1600 GTL with panniers and topcase).

Also, the new touring motorcycles from BMW come with three different modes (Rain, Road and Dynamic) and the traction control function DTC, which is available as an option. Other features included on both models comprise E-Gas (ride-by-wire) and Electronic Suspension Adjustment II (ESA II).

Compared with the GT variant, the K1600 GTL adds a lower single-section seat with revised footrests and handlebar placement, wider windshield, audio system with Bluetooth, GPS and satellite radio, chrome features, matching frame and engine color and a top case.
