2011 BMW 535i for a Hole-In-One

This year’s BMW International Open golf tournament ended this weekend, with the winner receiving the keys to a new BMW 535i saloon reportedly worth around EUR80,000. The 31-year-old Frenchman achieved a hole-in-one at the 17th, also known as “Dornröschenloch” (the Sleeping Beauty) among the members of GC Eichenried.

The Sleeping Beauty is only played once a year, and this feat has only been achieved previously by just one player, namely Raphael Jacquelin.The player was presented with a BMW Z8 in recognition of his achievement back in 2001.

“Extraordinary sporting exploits deserve special reward,” Ian Robertson, BMW Group Board Member for Sales and Marketing, said in a release. “We’re very pleased that finally another player has succeed in winning this excellent prize, and wish Jean-François Lucquin every enjoyment with the BMW 535i.”  Lucquin was presented with his new car by Robertson himself.

The 535i is fitted with a 300 hp 3.0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged inline, mated to the new 8-speed automatic transmission or the new “Sport Automatic” 8-speed. There is also the option of a 6-speed manual transmission.

The model features EfficientDynamics technologies such as Brake Energy Regeneration, Electric Power Steering, a gearshift point indicator, active cooling air flaps, and on-demand operation of engine accessory drives.

The driver assistance systems include Parking Assistant, Top View cameras, and Frontal Collision Warning with application of the brakes when ordered with Active Cruise Control plus Stop & Go. Additionall features include also Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning, a Head-Up Display, BMW Night Vision with Pedestrian Detection.
