2011 Bentley Continental GT to Debut Online Next Week

British car manufacturer Bentley revealed today its new Continental GT will be revealed on the internet six days from now, on September 7. The public reveal will be hosted at the following link and will be available day and night for a week.

Viewers will witness the unveiling as if they were attending a formal motor show event, and will be able to take virtual tours of the Continental GT by selecting a range of camera angles and distances, placed in a way that highlights the vehicle’s new styling lines.

“In 2003 we designed a car like no other – a striking, luxury GT coupe combining the craftsmanship and refinement Bentley is renowned for with a purposeful, sporting road presence. Now we’ve taken the opportunity to write a new chapter for the Continental,” Bentley’s Design Director Dirk van Braeckel, who was also the man behind the first Continental GT coupe, said in a release.

“The styling and design story in 2010 is just as dramatic and we believe this Bentley GT will be as instantly recognisable as its predecessor. We look forward to the moment the cameras are switched on and sharing the new Continental GT with enthusiasts across the world,” Braeckel added.

The first Continental GT, launched back in 2003, was considered the most powerful 4-seat coupe in the world at that time. Fitted with a 6.0L twin-turbocharged W12 unit delivering 552 hp and a ZF six-speed automatic transmission, the car was able to reach 0-60 mph in under 5 seconds and top around 198 mph (318.6 km/h).

Since then, there have been over 22,000 Continental GT models delivered to customers.
