2010 Volvo XC90 Slight Modifications

Volvo will bring a number of modifications on the 2010 XC90, before the official debut of the new-generation that has been delayed due to the company's financial problems. It appears the Swedish manufacturer wants to offer the XC90 only in seven-seat configuration and will release five different trim levels.

WorldCarFans writes that the Kinetic flavor will include a wide array of features, such as chrome detailing, 18-inch alloy wheels plus an advanced navigation system. Leather upholstery and other exterior enhancements will be offered on the other trim versions of the 2010 XC90.

Before the official release of the new XC90, the company announced earlier this year that the 2009 XC90 will be priced below its successor, in an attempt to cope with the financial problems.

"The decision to re-price the XC90 was taken to provide a strong value message to our customers," said Doug Speck, president and CEO of Volvo Cars North America, back in April. "The XC90 has been one of the most successful vehicles for Volvo, and this action will help to continue that success."

Volvo XC90 is currently available as a midsize five or seven-passenger SUV, based on the P2 platform. For model year 2009, the XC90 comes with an R-Design package that includes performance, interior and exterior enhancements. The car is equipped either with a 3.2L in-line six-cylinder engine (235 horsepower at 6200 rpm and 236 lb-ft at 3200 rpm of torque) or with a 4.4L V8 powerplant (311 horsepower at 5850 rpm and 325 lb-ft at 3900 rpm of torque).
