2010 Volkswagen New Beetle "Final Edition" Revealed

Unfortunately for Beetle fans, Volkswagen is getting ready to shut down production of the current generation but, before phasing it out and launching the new model, the company presented at the Los Angeles Auto Show the "Final Editions" of the car.

Basically, Final Edition represents a new limited series of the New Beetle, available in both coupe and convertible forms, which comes to honor the success recorded by this particular model over the years. Limited to 1,500 units for each series, the Final Editions will comprise several unique features at both the exterior and the interior.

The first thing you'll notice when looking at the limited series is the special Aquarius Blue paint with a painted black roof on the coupe, and a two-tone Aquarius Blue and Campanella White paint scheme with a white top on the convertible. Additionally, each car features a special exterior badge.

Both the coupe and the convertible come equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels and full sport suspension.

Inside, a special Final Edition badge is mounted on the steering wheel. Power comes from a 2.5-liter five-cylinder gasoline engine that develops 150 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque and is coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic.

“Since its launch in 1998, the New Beetle – and the New Beetle convertible that later followed – have connected generations of fans that love the cars’ totally unique styling and characteristics that are simply unmatched,” said Mark Barnes, Chief Operating Officer, Volkswagen of America, Inc. “The Final Editions combine all of the elements that best represent what people love the most about the New Beetle, and that have created the car’s legacy, which will live on in generations to come.”

As for pricing, the Final Editions cost $20,240 for the coupe and $27,170 for the convertible.
