2010 Volkswagen Golf GTI Pricing Released

As we reported yesterday, German manufacturer Volkswagen was getting ready to let loose the GTI version of the Golf 6 onto the German market. They did and the new GTI is now available for order, at a starting price of 26,650 euro, for the manual gearbox version.

The new GTI is powered by a 2.0l TSI engine, with modified pistons and piston rings, a regulated oil pump, a new vacuum pump, a new high-pressure fuel pump and a new mass airflow sensor, allowing it to develop 210 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque.

The Golf 6 GTI reaches 100 km/hour in 6.9 seconds (with intermediary acceleration from 80 to 120 km/hour in 7.5 seconds) and tops at a speed of 240 km/hour. Being a GTI, it will eat up some 7.3 liters of fuel every 100 kilometers.

The money to be payed for the new GTI is worth it, as the vehicle can be upgraded with an adaptive frame adjustment system for the chassis. This gives the driver the choice between three riding styles: Normal, Comfort and Sport. Suspension for the GTI can be lowered by as much as 22 mm in the front and 15 mm at the rear.

Since a GTI is not worthy of its name without making noise, the Golf 6 GTI is fitted with a "sound generator" which enhances the engine sound and relays it back into the cockpit.

The look of the GTI, similar to the GTI concept unveiled at the 2008 Paris Auto Show, is enhanced by the newly designed bi-xenon lights, fitted with cornering light systems. The GTI uses 17 inch alloy wheels as standard, but can be fitted on demand with 18 inch ones.

As we said, 26,650 euro is the price set for the low end version of the GTI. All options included, the 2010 Golf 6 GTI can ease your bank account in excess of 30,000 euros.
