2010 Vehicle Total Value Index Released

For the past 14 years, the automotive world has lived under what may be considered the shadow of the Total Value Index. Released at the beginning of each year by Strategic Vision, the index is meant as a tool for future buyers to know what others like them believe about the new models.

For this year's index, Strategic Vision questioned 111,212 people who bought cars in between September 2009 to June 2010, asking them to give points to the vehicles based on expected reliability, expected fuel economy, price paid, expected resale value, innovation and so on.

In 2010, four manufacturers set themselves apart, if we take into account the number of models which made it into the index: Volkswagen (4 models), Audi (4 models), Ford (4 models and 1 Lincoln model) and Hyundai (3 models).

“Typically we do not include ‘early-next-calendar-year' launch models in our current calendar year studies, but in the case of the 2011 Hyundai Sonata, its performance was so outstanding we created a new “Special Total Value Award” just to recognize a truly superior Value accomplishment,” said Strategic Vision chairman Darrel Edwards.

Below is the list of cars which made it into the index:
