Japanese manufacturer Suzuki released today, through American Suzuki Motor, the official details and photos of their newest sedan, the Kizashi, a model aimed at delivering "Japanese quality and European flair" as Suzuki says. The Kizashi is Suzuki's first take at the all-wheel-drive sport sedan segment and is scheduled to enter North American markets this winter.
The Kizashi is powered by a 2.4l DOHC inline four-cylinder engine, mated to a six-speed manual transmission (with a CVT transmission provided as an option). Unfortunately, no official performance figures have been released. Suzuki promises to add a hybrid version of the Kizashi sometimes in the near future.
The power of the engine is taken to the ground by Suzuki’s next generation i-AWD system. It can be activated by a push of a button and provides power to the rear wheels immediately upon acceleration.
Safety features on the Kizashi follow today's technology developments, boasting standard eight airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP) 4, anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution, projector beam headlamps and a tire pressure monitoring system.
On the interior, The Kizashi comes in both cloth premium leather on the three-stage heated seats. Comfort and infotainment is insured via keyless push start system, iPod connectivity and optional streaming audio via Bluetooth. Sound is distributed via a 425 watts Rockford Fosgate 3 system.
“Now that the production model Kizashi has arrived, we expect the name and the product itself to clearly demonstrate the bold statement this company knew it would be making with the debut of this vehicle, while also simultaneously suggesting what will emerge in the Suzuki lineup as we look ahead to the future,” Kevin Saito, American Suzuki president said in a release.
So far, no prices have been announced, but rumors surfacing a while back placed the Kizashi in the $21,000 - $28,000 range.
