We are more than pleased to present you one of the top South Korean creations being displayed at this year’s edition of the SEMA show. We are talking about the Kia Koup Type R Concept.

This is a project inspired by Kia’s racing vehicles that take part in the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, also being offered as a study that demonstrates Kia vehicles’ tuning potential.

Inspired by the excitement and competition Kia experienced in its inaugural season of racing in the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, and with an eye on future production vehicle applications, the Kia Forte Koup Type R Concept confidently showcases the performance possibilities Kia's first two-door coupe provides,” stated the press release.

The vehicle come with an exterior body kit that builds on the coupe’s factory design cues, playing with items such as the front fenders, rocker panels and rear quarter panels.

Developed by Kinetic Motorsports, who built and campaigns Kia's Forte Koup race cars, the Type R features dramatically enhanced exterior panels that exaggerate the existing body lines, including the front fenders, rocker panels and rear quarter panels,” stated the press release.

The vehicle rides on BBS RG 18-inch forged aluminum alloy rims, using motorsport-inspired tires, as well as a racing suspension. Other modifications include a short throw shift kit with Kinetic gear shift knob and a carbon composite clutch.

The interior of the vehicle has also been modified, offering “ergonomic improvements for the driver”. The list of interior modifications includes custom finishes for the seats and doors.

Our say: Nice Koup, but wasn't "Type R" a Honda trademark?
