Hyundai has joined forces with RIDES and 0-60 magazines to develop a mean version of the new Sonata Turbo, bringing the vehicle to SEMA.

The automotive producer said that the bespoke Sonata Turbo borrows styling cues from vehicles belonging to brands such as Ferrari, Mercedes and Porsche. The company’s press release explained that the vehicle has also used the Brabus Rocket, which is based on the Mercedes CLS, as a source of inspiration, and that the interior is inspired from that of the Ferrari F430, making extensive use of leather and carbon fiber.

"The Sonata Turbo is an ideal platform for us to bridge the worlds of performance, aesthetics, luxury, technology and style," said Ben Harris, executive publisher, RIDES and 0-60 magazines. "The design we've chosen will accentuate the car's lines and style, using influences from exotic supercars."

The stock Sonata Turbo is powered by a 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged powerplant that produces 274 hp and a peak torque of 269 lb-ft. Hyundai announced that the modifications will also target the engine, but has not offered specific details, only mentioning that the unit will be fitted with turbo and air intake upgrades, as well as a new exhaust system.

The vehicle is fitted with a body kit that comes to enhance its factory look. At the front, we can find a modified fascia with generous air intakes and LED daytime running lights. The rear bumper uses an interesting design, housing quad exhaust tips.

The custom Sonata Turbo also uses a high-end audio system, with some of the components using a “bling-bling” trunk set-up.
