2010 Scion xB: Same Price, Improved Sound Quality

Scion has just announced an upgrade for the 2010 model year xB which now comes with an all-new standard Pioneer audio system while keeping the base price unchanged. Furthermore, the upgraded range includes an optional Alpine Premium audio system, navigation and back-up camera-ready, but pricing details are yet to be unveiled.

Since the xB is already referred to as a model especially addressed to youths, the new standard 160-watt Pioneer audio system does nothing more than to emphasize this fact, providing a series of functions particularly targeting young buyers: USB connectivity, subwoofer RCA output, organic electroluminescent (OEL) screen and Advanced Sound Retriever (ASR).

Moreover, the 200-watt Alpine Premium audio system provides almost the same features as the standard unit but also comes with a 4.3-inch color touch panel thin film transistor (TFT) screen, HD Radio technology, and Media Expander (MX). "The user can listen to HD Radio technology with the Alpine Premium audio system and view text, song titles, album and artist on the head unit. Alpine's MX improves compressed audio sound often found on digital music. The optional audio system is also back-up camera and navigation-ready," Scion said in a release.

To give you an idea, the xB will be priced at $15,750 for the five-speed manual transmission and at $16,700 for the four-speed automatic with sequential shifting. A new exterior color has also been introduced, Sizzling Crimson Mica, and will replace Blackberry Crush Metallic.

The upgraded 2010 xB is set to go on sale later this month and will come equipped with an impressive array of standard features, including power steering, windows, door locks and mirrors, cruise control, remote keyless entry, air conditioning, four-wheel anti-lock brakes with electronic brake assist, dual front passenger airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags, front and rear side curtain airbags and tilt steering wheel with audio controls.
