Stepping inside, the car boasts a large number of features, including a console-mounted ignition, black trim, bolstered seats and new steering wheel. There will be several options according to autobild.de, including an entertainment system for rear passengers, bi-xenon headlights, a Harman Kardon audio system, keyless entry and an 8-inch navigation system supplied by Panasonic.
Just as we wrote some time ago when we published a pack of spyshots showing the car during heavy testing, the 9-5 will be offered with a revised rear, similar to a coupe, with several styling elements to be sourced from the 9-4x BioPower concept. Additionally, the new model will be heavier, taller and longer compared to the current model, with the wheelbase to be increased by around 14 cm.
As for the engines, the new 9-5 will be powered by three turbocharged petrol units, as it follows: a 1.6-liter four-cylinder powerplant that generates 160 horsepower, a 2.0-liter unit four-cylinder releasing 201 horsepower and a 2.8-liter V6 with 300 horsepower. Diesels will also join the range through a 2.0-liter configuration developing either 160 hp or 190 hp.
The car is expected to hit the streets in Europe in April 2010, with a price tag of around 35,000 euro.
