2010 Range Rover Official Details and Photos

Land Rover has just published some new details about the 2010 Range Rover along with a bunch of official photos showing the model expected to go on sale later this year. And to get straight to technical stuff, the new model will be offered in a choice of two engine configurations, a 5.0-liter V8 supercharged developing 510 bhp and 461 lb-ft of torque and a 5.0-liter V8 naturally-aspirated unit producing 375 bhp and 375 lb-ft of torque.

Both engines are developed in-house by Jaguar Land Rover and were especially designed to deliver more power while remaining focused on fuel consumption and gas emissions. Both engines are compliant with stringent U.S. ULEV2 emissions regulations, according to a statement by Land Rover.

In terms of performance, the naturally-aspirated configuration is capable of pushing the car from a standstill to 100 km/h (60 mph) in 7.2 seconds while the 5.0-liter supercharged unit propels the car from rest to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds.

Apart from engine improvements, the 2010 Range Rover comes with several exterior improvements, including slight modifications to headlights, grille and bumper. Interiors have been upgraded with more luxurious materials plus an innovative instrument cluster with traditional physical instruments replaced by a 12-inch Thin Film Transistor screen.

“The new display technology used by the 2010 Range Rover is a major advance. It gives us tremendous flexibility in presenting information, so that the driver gets precisely the data they require, in all driving conditions,” explains Nick Rogers, Chief Engineer, New Vehicle Architecture.

There are several new safety features, such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Emergency Brake Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, Automatic High Beam Assist (AHBA) and a surround camera system.

“The Range Rover remains the consummate luxury SUV. Its combination of unrivalled all-terrain performance with the ultimate in comfort and refinement, remains a clear industry benchmark,” says Phil Popham.
