French manufacturer Renault is showcasing the ZOE electric car these days in Paris, a concept that first debuted at last year’s Frankfurt Auto Show. The car previews the forthcoming mass-market Renault electric car that bears the same name, scheduled for market launch sometime in 2012.

In fact, the vehicle on display at the Paris Motor Show reportedly is a near-definitive representation (90 percent) of the vehicle that will be manufactured at Renault’s Flins plant, France.

The Renault ZOE Preview is powered by a 80 HP (60 kW) electric motor, with an autonomy of 160 km (99 miles), and that can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in 8.1 seconds.

The 4-door concept is 4.10 m long (161 inch), 1.788 m (70.4 inch) wide and 1.54 m (60.63 inch)high. The Renault ZOE Preview concept can hit a top speed of 135 km/h (84 mph) and a full battery recharge takes between 6 to 8 hours.

To regain 80 percent of the batteries the Renault ZOE Preview needs to be plugged-in for only 30 minutes, while a 60 km (37 mile) ride requires only a 10 minutes recharge.

Inside the ZOE Preview, Renault has fitted a smart climate control system that automatically adjusts the humidity level for skin hydration. Moreover, a toxicity sensor monitors air quality and automatically closes the air vents if necessary. An electric system actively releases different scents depending on the driver’s needs.

In some countries, Quickdrop battery exchange stations will be available. The customer will be able to change his depleted battery for a fully-charged battery in just three minutes. This scheme is currently planned in Israel and Denmark, in partnership with Better Place.
