The European premiere of the Mazda2 facelift is taking place these days at the Paris Auto Show, featuring updates that include new exterior colours and wheel designs for a sportier look. There’s a choice of 11 body colours, including two new ones (Aquatic Blue Mica and Burgundy Red Mica).

On the inside, Mazda2 is equipped with new materials, seat fabrics and colors, while body and suspension updates improve ride comfort.

According to the Japanese carmaker, the meters have new black faces, white numbers and silver rings, matched by new black steering-wheel switch bezels.

The audio panel gets new piano black surfaces with chrome-plated lines, and black mouldings are added around the air conditioning vents at each side and the hazard lamp button. Rounding off the interior facelift are higher-quality seat fabrics in black-based patterns, and more durable materials.

The package is completed by an updated engine line-up with Euro 5 compliance for all powertrains. The line-up includes three petrol engines ranging from two 1.3-litre derivatives with 75 PS and 84 PS, to a 1.5-litre with 102 PS.

There is also an updated diesel unit that achieves 4.2 l/100km (56 mpg) and produces just 110 g/km of CO2 (on a combined cycle). And for even more comfortable driving a new automatic transmission will be offered.

The car is offered in two body styles, namely a five-door hatchback and sporty three-door hatchback. Creating the physical and visual connection to the road are new dynamic 16-inch aluminium wheels and 15-inch steel wheel hubcap designs.
